Try Something New

I've found myself transforming my clothing items a lot these days, wearing them in different and unexpected ways. This outfit is an example of that. The skirt you see here is in fact a dress. I do this with some of my dresses because I struggle to find long skirts that fit me well (I'm quite short).

Other examples of this include:
*Wearing a shirt or shirt dress as a jacket or light coat
*Wearing a coat as a dress
*Popping a skirt over a short dress.

Crop top is by Project from Mr Price and the sandals are from New Look.

Happy Valentines Day!

Happy Valentines Day to those who are into that kind of thing. If you're planning on doing something with BAE, I wrote a piece last year this time giving tips on how to look extra cute on your date night. Check it out if you're interested, it's called - ALL THAT IS: Date Night.

My View From 'Down There'

Mixing things up a bit today. Joggers/Soft pants and heels for some edge. These black and gold sandals are from Foschini.

Adventure Time

Today was a half-day for me at school, so I'm spending the rest of it immersed by nature, with my "favourite-est" person.

Photos From My Backyard

Church time. I've reverted back to my usual monochrome style. This time breaking the black and white with hints of blue and plum.

I'm not usually a fan of sequined things, but this sequined top underneath makes the outfit pop or sparkle should I say. I'm also really in to rolling up my jeans these days. That little bit of ankle exposed creates the illusion of a longer, slimmer leg.

Off to take the Hippocratic Oath for the first time. Dress code is Semi-Formal, I think I nailed it.

This is my new favourite piece of knitwear. I got this bad ting from Mr Price. I love that I can wear it in any season or on those odd days where it's cold in the morning but you know it's going to warm up during the day. The detailing on this jersey drives me crazy. Plus it's so versatile, I can see myself wearing it with anything.

Adventure Time

It's my friend Phumelela's birthday weekend! Tonight we're celebrating at Six's Cocktail Lounge in Melville, Johannesburg.

We've got our food, we've got our drinks, we're good to go!

PS: This place has the best Nachos I've ever had, officially my new spot!

Life Of A Student

Choosing 'fits for school everyday can become quite tedious after some time. On some mornings it's an easy task to get done, yet on other days it's almost impossible to find something, ANYTHING, to wear. Trust me, it happens to the best of us. When you are having one of those days I always find it best to revert to the basics. Items like dresses and jumpsuits are the easiest, because they have both the top and the bottom covered. All you have to do is pick a pair of shoes. The most favoured item for students (in my opinion) are jeans, also because of how easy they are to style. So if you find yourself standing in front of your closet, at the point of pulling your hair out from frustration, just pull out your favourite pair of jeans. Build your outfit from there. You can never go wrong with the jean and a top combo.

I myself had to use this tactic this morning when I got dressed. I think it worked out pretty well for me.

Try Something New!

I have no idea what to do with my hair! I've undone the braids, and it's been a few weeks since my last relax treatment. And yet, I'm a totally digging my hair's texture right now. And then it hits me.... Why DON'T I just go natural? Going natural means that you completely cut off using any chemical products on your hair. The thought of going natural had been in the back of my mind for some time now. I think I was hesitant to do it because I always thought that going natural meant I'd have to cut all my hair off and start from scratch. But after some extensive research  I discovered that, although going for the Big Chop is the quickest way to grow your hair, it isn't necessarily the only option. According to what I've read, right now I'm in the Transition Phase. I am to cut off all relaxing treatments, sulphate and paraben containing products and use natural oils and butters to moisturize my hair. As the weeks and months go by I will keep you guys updated on my journey through transitioning.

It's Christmas!

Merry Christmas to all you Eccentrics out there!
