Sometimes all a girl needs is a quick helping hand on how to look effortlessly chic and ready to go out without having to go through the tremendous amount of work required to change your entire wardrobe.
That’s where the skill of transitioning your look through different times of the day or through different functions comes in handy. Here a just a few guidelines to getting this skill right:
1) BE PREPARED.
If you know that you are needed in two different places that require two different looks, make sure that you have everything you need to pull it off. You must leave the house with a change of shoes, different handbag, accessories. This is not to say that you need to pack a lot with you. You must remember that you are going to be changing in places that you might not be familiar with. The last thing you want to do is overcomplicate the entire process by having too many unnecessary bits and pieces. It is possible to pack a small bag with all your goodies and be on your way.
2) KEEP IT SIMPLE.
When I say keep it simple, I’m not referring to your entire outfit. I’m talking about the foundations or basics of your outfit. These include things like a dress or trousers/jeans and a top. Transitioning your outfit is so much easier for you if the foundations of your outfit are kept simple with solid colours, similar textures or prints, etc etc. For a female a simple LBD is easier to work with, for example. This also allows for more creative leeway with accessories, outer wear and shoes - the things that really make the change in the outfit.
3) WHEN DRESSING FOR THE EVENING.
This is the appropriate time for you, as a fashionista to step up your game and show off your style. No matter what the occasion, night time always calls for a fashion step-up and dress-up. This means swapping out those sneakers and flats for a heel or a fancy shoe, taking off the outer wear and replacing it with a lot more bling (ladies this includes a change in your hair and make-up).
4) STAY CLEAN.
When going out, you always want to look and feel refreshed and clean. So if you plan on working that outfit all the way through to the evening you might want to keep it clean. Avoid messy places, foods and drinks. Also when the time comes to change, do yourself a favour and wash your face as well as do a repeat on the deodorant and perfume/cologne. Just to be safe.
Remember this skill is to make your life easier. Don’t overcomplicate it. Be creative and playful with your looks.
Stay Eccentric!
