ALL THAT IS: SHOPPING

For as long as I can remember I have been a Shopaholic. My Mom always tells me stories of how, as a little girl, I would read prices off of the tags of clothes and run my hands through everything on a rack. I have a few tricks I use when I go shopping, just to make it even more fun and interesting.
1) BE COMFORTABLE.
Shopping is a physical activity. When going shopping, and I mean full out shopping, you’re going to be on your feet a lot, moving up and down, carrying parcels, being busy. You want to make sure that the clothes you’re wearing don’t inhibit you from being great. Wear comfortable shoes that enable you to walk with ease and that you can wear the entire time (there is nothing more unattractive than seeing someone walking around barefoot in the mall). Sneakers, sandals, pumps, boots, they are all great options to keep you looking flawless. If you choose to wear a dress, before you leave the house, be sure you can move, shake and bend in it. If you know that you’re going to be in the fitting rooms a lot, please wear underwear (ladies). It would also help you to wear the correct underwear. Remember though, in all your comfort, avoid looking sloppy.

2) BE PREPARED.
Unless you’re going out to the mall with the intention of just browsing, its wise that you have a rough idea of what you’re going out to get. This not only prevents you from spending unnecessarily on things you don’t need but it will keep your head clear and you won’t find yourself getting flustered in the middle of the store. Watch yourself make better decisions and there’ll be less chance you’ll regret your purchase (if you do regret your purchase keep the tags on the item, the slips in the bag and return or exchange them).
3) SHOPPING IN ADVANCE.When shopping for major up-and-coming events, do yourself a favour and shop in advance. Once you’ve bought the outfit, save it, don’t wear it. People usually choose to do frantic last minute shopping so setting the outfit aside lessens the chances of you wearing the same thing as someone else. Instead of being in the trend that everyone knows, you get to bring back a trend that everyone has forgotten. Also, you don’t want people to look at your outfit and know exactly where you bought it. But always keep your eyes open for options, in case you find something else you love.
4) PRESERVE YOUR CLOTHES.
The point I made about setting your clothes aside and not wearing them for a while is a clever trick I use to preserve my clothes, especially my expensive pieces. You never know when the time will come where you’ll need something new to wear and won’t have the time or money to go shopping. That’s where that one dress or pair of shoes that you haven’t worn before, comes in handy. Preserving your clothes also means you can keep them looking new for a longer period of time.
5) SALES!
Sales are the best thing to ever happen in my entire life. Not all of us can afford to buy our favourite clothes, labels and brands on full price. The sales rack was once the same as any other rack in the store, so there is absolutely no shame in burying your head deep in there. Not only are the clothes still pretty amazing and of the same quality as everything else, they also come to you nearly 75% cheaper than at original price. Unless it’s an item that you absolutely MUST buy or that you think might sell out quickly, I suggest waiting for it to go on sale. The best times in the year to look out for sales are in the beginning of January, during Sidewalk Sales and at the end of every season. However most stores have sales all year long, so always target those red tags.
I have never understood people who say they don’t enjoy shopping. It’s not just about spending hours and hours in a shopping centre. Have fun. Even if you’re just doing an in-and-out trip and not specifically looking for clothes, there are many ways to revel in it.
Stay Eccentric!
